Joeman's Games Special - Illusion Series Final Part - World of Illusion

The Illusion Series in the World  of Video Games - Final Part

Featuring:

Introduction
We have already spoken of the Castle of Illusion, the Land of Illusion and the buggy rom of Legend of Illusion.
It's time to talk about the last game of the series, WORLD of Illusion. He is not the last CHRONOLOGICALLY, because Legend came out in 1994. But it was the last in the Mega Drive.

::::: World of Illusion - Mega Drive :::::

"... the stage still continues, with a right to sink in a guava until you reach the boss ..."

Year: 1992
The year is the same as the Land of Illusion. POINT. Comparisons with other games in the series end here. The game is another, the  guy is another, the gameplay is different, everything new and different, and perhaps so unique.

The story is simple: Mickey and Donald, practicing for a number of magic, eventually entering a strange box, and will stop in this world of illusion. Being trapped, they need to seek a way out of there alive. Soon discover, by such a Fucker Lord of Magic, who must learn magic tricks if they want to leave the world of illusions. Every last stage, the two are learning magic tricks that will help them to get out of there ASAP.

World of Illusion inaugurated a new style of graphics programming, then called Watermark Effect, so your graphics have a touch of paint.

The challenge here is for the chosen character: this version we can choose between Mickey or Donald, or if you have a partner to play both. And for each of the three choices, some new stages are introduced and others are modified.

There are stages that only Mickey plays , while there are others that only Donald travels. Which to choose? Any.

After learning of the two stages will vary according to taste. I prefer the stages of Donald, but Mickey has very  interesting stages too. And playing the two, some exclusive stages appear, these stages that require collaboration with one another to be overcome. Yes, friendship counts much here too, if you are playing with a friend.

You need to help themselves, is to reach high places, is getting through cracks, to run, etc.. It is not a competition game, is a game of COOPERATION. Good, but no more stalling and let's go to the stages that this game presents.

:::::::::: STAGES ::::::::::

The two characters have the same attacks, ie: both use those magic carpets  to transform enemies in harmless beings. The only difference is that Mickey can pass into cracks and not Donald. Simple as that.

The stages are different for both, ie: I will talk of the stages for the two characters, and, playing 2 players, all of them will have to be passed. Or not.

Stage 1 - Forest

It is the initial stage and exists in three game modes, therefore will not be listed below. The stage is cliché, famous for appearing in ALL games in this series in 99% of plataform games of the time.

The beginning is among trees, then comes a session of jumping on logs and ends with a party full of  spiders webs,  where a friendly spider teaches us the way with his web.

helper spider of the stage

Donald here has a special section that looks at the escalation of the beanstalk of the Land of Illusion.
The boss of the stage is a giant spider which is easily defeated. Mickey learns a spell that raises a magic carpet.

Stage 2 - Mountain

The stages starts on a cliff, where Mickey uses a spell and the carpet appears. This first step all  rolls on the carpet, flying and dodging hurricanes and hawks. The second part is to climb on the mountain, where a storm happens. This stage is unique to Mickey.

With Donald, we have to go down a river on a sheet, a million times harder. Then comes a rush in a cave where the roof is down (a la Indiana Jones) and follows with a drop where you need to be NINJA to fall right in the stone.

After that (the stage is long), comes a section with jump in clouds with the face of a "¬ ¬". Particularly,  I like very much of the stage as her music.

The boss is a mystique rock  that unleashes a bizarre little dragon, very easy to be obliterated. The acquired magic here serves to form a bubble of air around the character, allowing him to breathe underwater.

Stage 3 - Ocean

The entire stage is sleepy, with a very calm music and requires, in addition to skill, patience. You will spend the time swimming in a bubble of air, dodging fish, spikes and other sea enemies.

Most items of the stage are in secret passages, and explore the place is vital here.

the stage is very cool visual

The second step of stage occurs inside a small underwater cave: another Mickey's exclusive stage .

With Donald, the stage goes ON the ocean, where the duck needs to jump on buoys, islands and go killing fish and other enemies. The music is pretty cool, it remembers JAMAICA.

The third and final part of the stage is inside a sunken ship, where music is SUBLIME (no, it's not that band).

The boss is, naturally, a shark, which is crazy to RIP our friend's ass. Defeating, the  acquired magic is one that brings into bizarre boxes, like those which they entered at the beginning of the game.

Stage 4 - Library

At the end of Ocean stage, most players is surprised to learn  they were inside in the AQUARIUM. And  the famous stage of the Library has the air of his grace in this game too. And it is one of the best stages with one of the best songs.

The entire stage is brilliant, full of his own things, as the tube of paint (or toothpaste), cookie jar, own enemies as murderous pen, staplers serving as springs, and so on.

The stage also provides us with a visit to TIN OF SWEETS, a  spectacular stage that resembles the CANDY STAGE of Castle of Illusion for Master System.

Mr. Nabisco's Cookie bothers me

This stage can be different, if the player finds a box with Christmas ornaments in the Library Stage. Then the stage is completely different. Another thing that can be found (perhaps only with Donald) is a box of books where exist a new stage.

The stage of book's box, Donald's exclusive

Well, the Candy Stage here is big, sometimes annoyed because of  enemies : one small bar of chocolate that shoots straws and the BISCUIT LORD, that needs to be hit twice to die.

the ride in cork only uses Mickey

In the end, a ride on the cork of a champagne, in the sky, where you can collect some items. After going down, the stage still continues, with a right to sink in a guava until you reach the boss, Mad Madam Min.

Mad Madam Min: World of Illusion

I think this must be the only game in which she appears. And it's easy to be overcome.

Stage 5 - Garden Card

long stage, but with a cool music

This stage resembles Alice in Wonderland, with letters walking going all over the stage. The Madam's Min magic serves to build bridges or plataforms of cards with the same.

At the end of it, a lot of dice appears on the ground and a PRESS ME plate  is at the bottom: each leads to a part of the stage, the few leads to bonus, others return you in the beginning, all randomly.

The goal is to hit the dice which opens the doors to the maze in the garden. But Mickey, upon entering the door, goes inside a bizarre house, where objects come to life and attack the poor mouse.

With Donald, this bizarre house does not appear. Playing with the duck, the stage is a kind of escalation in a green maze, where we need to be looking for the right passage to get out of there. In bizarre mouse house , the ground moves alone back, as a roll, forcing the player to run forward without stopping.

Well, the third step is an even stranger place , with the signs shown in the background and a witch who must be a relative of Madam Min flying and creating holes for Mickey jump. Not sure if this is all part of some old movie from Disney, because I do not know much.

The interesting of stage is on the second floor of this place: some curtains show only the shadow of the characters, generating a very cool effect.

cool effect of the stage

Final Boss

After another corridor full of enemies, the final boss appears:  Pete in DEVIL version! This does not mean that it is difficult. It is one of the easiest final bosses I've ever faced, just have to stay connected on the  Mickey's energy.

BWAHAHAHA

Once defeated, he comes back and gives the MASTER BOOK OF MAGICIANS for Mickey, the only book able to free them from that world.

Mickey does the magic and free along with Donald in that world of illusions.
The final scene shows such a magic number of two, where they do appear the phrase "THANKS FOR PLAYING".

Many Disney characters are in the audience, including Pete, which makes me think that the whole game is a dream of a pothead ...

The credits roll as Mickey and Donald walk on a bucolic setting and the music resembles a passage from Shining Force.

Well, with this game, I end here the Special of Series Illusion on consoles. I hope you enjoyed, the next special is already on the way!
